We use these standard actuarial tables ( https://www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/table4c6.html ) and the top five questions life insurers ask to determine default longevity. Of course, your mileage may vary, so we provide a slider to change your personal longevity. 

In general, it's better to die with money to give away than to die penniless. So it's better to plan to live longer than the averages say you will. Based on current science, we don't let you live longer than 120 years right now. Hopefully we have to update that in future versions of BodesWell!
